The Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s Public Utility Division is seeking an injunction to stop True Wireless from enrolling new customers in the state.
The Commission claims True enrolled ineligible customers for its free government cell phones, engaged in fraudulent enrollments, and says that True agents enrolled customers from locations that had not been reported to the Commission. As if that weren’t bad enough, the Commission also accuses True Wireless of falsifying documents.
As a result of those accusations, the Commission wants to stop the company from signing up new customers for the Lifeline free government cell phone program.
True Wireless has come out swinging against allegations that it fraudulently enrolled ineligible customers.
A True Wireless representative insists that the allegations are “outrageous” and said the injunction violates the company’s commercial free speech rights.
True’s attorneys told an administrative law judge the commission’s allegations are untrue and said that the injunction requested by the Commission would violate its rights to commercial speech. The company’s attorneys also said that if any regulations were violated, those violations were committed by third party contractors. The attorney said allegations of intentional fraud were “outrageous.”
The administrative judge sided with True and denied the requested injunction request.
But that doesn’t put the allegations to rest. The case is set to continue and the administrative law judge will eventually issue a more comprehensive recommendation. In what seems to be a clear conflict of interest, the same commissioners who made the accusations against True will then makes his recommendation, then it will then vote by majority on a final ruling.
In other words, only time will tell if the accusations against True are true or untrue.
We will wait, of course, for the final rulings of the judge and the final vote of the Commission, but if the allegations are found to be true, True should be dealt with harshly. If they are found to be untrue, the Commission owes True a huge pubic apology.

I have been a user of True wireless for over 2 yrs. I have always been treated with respect, even when i upgraded my phone (upgraded phone was a result of my son dying), I spoke with a number of them, all very kind. My frustrations were all at my end, but eventually resolved. I don’t know of these alligations, but, as a combat vet they were always there. I am 82, and they all treated me respectfully. Hurt them, and you hurt me. respectfully RJ mcCotter
