I don’t know what’s going on at SafeLink/TracFone but I have no idea how they’re the largest government cell service company with The staff and the lack of knowledge they give out but I’ve spent weeks just trying to have my phone’s service reactivated after trying to upgrade my phone they have decimated my whole account I lost my ebb I can’t even get my regular monthly allotment of minutes text and data every person I talk to gives me a different answer they mixed up my account with my boyfriends repeatedly give me false information in regards to what’s going on I’m on the phone constantly trying to just get a phone to use it’s getting to the point where I just don’t have any idea what to do I’ve spoken with the national verifier who does the lifeline program and they’ve told me everything that they can do and there’s no reason why I should be without a phone they keep contradicting themselves saying one thing and someone else will say another if I had a dollar for every minute I was on the phone with them I’d be a very rich person just some of the stuff that comes out of their mouth repeatedly is unbelievable one person will say my address is such and such and it’s been changed and my enrollment number is different I’m just at my wits end I guess the only thing I have left to do is to try and switch companies if anybody’s looking for a government self provider I wouldn’t suggest SafeLink nothing but one big hassle
Enrique Moreno says
I lost my phone a couple of says ago and I want it shit off so no one can use it 442 231 ****
Free Government Cell Phones says
We assume you meant you want it shut off, but to each his own.
Sorry, Enrique, but we are not your service provider so we cannot shut it off. You need to contact your provider’s customer service team.
Manuel says
My handicap brother has the free lifeline, his phone broke completely, hes had this same phone for years. How do i get a replacement phone. Do not want a touch screen he needs something heavy duty.
Free Government Cell Phones says
There are a couple options. (1) Contact your service provider. If you get lucky they’ll replace your brother’s phone for free, but the odds are slim. They’ll probably require him to purchase a replacement phone for some moderate fee. (2) He can switch companies and the new service provider will consider him a new customer and provide him with a smart phone. (3) He can purchase a phone and use it as his free government cell phone as part of a BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) plan offered by most service providers.
If he chooses to switch service providers, here’s where he can find all the companies and all the plans offered in his state:
https://www.freegovernmentcellphones.net/states
And if he decides to switch here’s an article that tells him exactly how to make the switch:

Chaplain Joy Smith says
Our income is a little over for getting a fee phone. We have ATT service but pay more than we can afford for the service. I am 81 and am thinking about Lifeline service at the senior rate. Can that be added to our current ATT, or is there a better way to save costs?
Free Government Cell Phones says
Bad news, Chaplain. If you are a current AT&T customer you cannot switch to Lifeline service. Not unless you cancel your service for 60 or 90 days.

Elizabeth Sparks says
Finally, a rep writes in CAPS! I keep going back to this site out of frustration on finding the right lifeline provider in AZ. Every time I look, people are casually writing sensitive intel about themselves for the world to see. In addition, CONSTANT inquiries as if you’re the actual service provider. Both are super weird to me. I’m weird about ANY private info being released to anyone (even when necessary), much less in a public forum. Would they do so on a billboard down the highway? Doing so online is a million times worse. I’m also known for scouring a store entirely too long before asking for help, same holds true for online. If you read the forum for two seconds, one should understand your role. UGH. Anyway… just saying you guys deserve infinite praise and a raise for patience alone. =)
Free Government Cell Phones says
Much appreciated, Elizabeth.
John Gallagher says
How do I get this phone back on?
Free Government Cell Phones says
Since we’re not your service provider, John, we have no idea what the problem is. You need to contact your service provider using the contact info provided on this page.

They WILL allow you to port over your current phone number, Kathy. If you find a rep who says it can’t be done, ask for a supervisor.
Will says
@Kathy getting something free an complaining. Like she being forced. LoL
Jenn Garden says
Kathy, get a google voice number that way you will have the same phone number (though it ‘s not the one you have now) that way no matter WHAT cell provider you have you will only need one number to give out. It is set up so that you can have all your calls forwarded to one number, so you only have to remember one number and it also makes it easy to block calls. It is FREE and you can also to your calls online if you lose your phone and can give you a written transcript of your voicemails.

I can’t call to any of the 2 numbers or 611 using this phone, and if I try with another one, it result occupated all the time. Please contact me at ********@hotmail.com. Thanks a lot!
Free Government Cell Phones says
If we had to guess, Lillian, we’d say that your account got cancelled because you didn’t use your phone for more than 30 days. Unfortunately, that’s one of the rules of the free government cell phone program.
If Total Call is you service provider, you can find contact info for its customer service team in the article above. If you have a different service provider, you can find them all (and their contact info) at the link below:

That all depends on your phone make and model and your service provider, Arlene. Your easiest option is to Google the make and model of your phone and the words “user manual.” You’ll quickly find the correct user manual and you can look up the answer to your question.

My husband have a total call mobile phone. I do the annual recertification in December by phone. But yesterday don’t have service.
What can I do and my husband have phone service again.
I appreciate your help for this situation.
Thanks,
Free Government Cell Phones says
Our first thought is that you don’t yet know if your service was cancelled or if your phone just stopped working. Contact Total Call customer service to answer that question. It may be as simple as getting a replacement phone. If you have, in fact, been cancelled by mistake you should look at it as a chance to get a better plan. Check out all the Lifeline companies in your state to find the one that offers the most minutes, most texts, most data, and even a smartphone. Enroll with that company. You can find a complete list of free government cell phone companies in your state at this link:

I’m trying to dis connect my line and no longer want to be in this program please help
Free Government Cell Phones says
All you need to do is turn off your phone and make sure it stays off for 30 days. The new rules of the program require that your service provider automatically terminate your account if you have neither made nor received any phone calls and neither sent nor received any texts. So make sure you turn the phone off and leave it off.

Damned if we can figure out what you’re asking for, Eunice. Do you want to switch from Total Call to Q Link or vice versa?
If you go to the Total Call website, it appears that the company is no longer in business and that all its customers have been taken over by enTouch (one of our favorite free government cell phone companies). You need to switch your service over to enTouch within a matter of days, Eunice. Do it now. Do not delay or you could lose your service.

These people just can’t understand that you are not there provider. I do not have a free cell phone but I do hear people who do, and they complain constantly. July 8, 2016
Aloha,
About a week and a half ago I received a text message from Total Call for me to contact your customer service department as soon as possible, and before July 1, 2016 because Total Call would like to upgrade my lifeline cell phone. The text message also said that by doing so It will prevent service disruption on July 1, 2016. I tried contacting customer service a few times on June 27th but was not successful. On June 28th I spoke to someone name Ervin whom redirected me to another department to update my address to where my new phone was supposed to be mailed. This was done successfully, then I was redirected back to Ervin who confirmed with me a few more information that was needed by Total Call and then Ervin gave me a (800) phone number so that I could call Total Call back from a different phone to conclude to process of the upgrade. I did what I was asked to do and was also told that I should be getting my new phone in a few days. Well today is July 8th 2016 and I still did not receive my upgraded Total Call Lifeline phone and my old phone does not work because it got cancelled. Can someone please tell me what is going on?
Free Government Cell Phones says
It would be very unusual to receive a free government cell phone within “a few days.” Some companies say it will be two weeks, but our readers often say it takes three weeks or more in the real world. We’d suggest that you wait a little longer and call Total Call’s customer service team again if it doesn’t arrive. Best of luck.

Contacting the company is the only way. And their hold times are extremely long. But here’s a tip: do not use your phone at all for 60 days and it will be disconnected.

monica, the hold is always long but what you can do is if you are located in california you want to call california lifeline 1-866-272-0349 and have them cancel it from the source. of course if your looking to reapply you would have to wait 48 business hours to reapply. that way your completely out of the system so you wont come up as any duplicate in the system.

Where is there going to be a rep issuing the Total Call Mobile phones in Spokane Washington. I was told a couple of weeks ago just to visit this sight and it would tell me. The people sometimes—in fact a lot of the time–are not any help when calling the customer service line. I had gotten a phone and couldn’t access my voice mail. The person kept telling me to do exactly what I had been doing but he said I was doing it wrong. Got a replacement phone which was stolen a couple of days later. When called to deactivate that number the person made it sound like I was trying to scam you. Really, I need a phone for my family to get ahold of me. they are 350 Miles away..and also for job searches. Can think of other ways to scam people than a phone that was stolen from me..Need a phone today,,

I really like your company, but your rep here in Reno is a jerk. his name is Joe. Can you help me apply for and receive a new phone? I cancelled my service in Sep. When my phone was stolen and was told that I would be eligible again Nov. 16. I applied with Joe and was told that I was still in the system but that he could fix it. It is now Dec. 10 and I am still waiting. Will you please help me? I have an 8 year old son who I can’t speak with. He doesn’t understand. It breaks my heart. Please, please help me! Thank you.

We’re not Total Call, Sherry. In fact, it might be possible that Total Call no longer exists, because all its customers are being transferred to enTouch Wireless.

Donna Johnstone says
I called to let you know that someone has stolen my phone and you said I had to wait 60 days to try for another phone. Why can’t someone just call me at home and let me know where I can go to get another government cell phone instead of waiting all that time. I need the phone at this time not 60 days from now and it just does not seem right that I should have to wait because of a mistake I did not cause to begin with. Please call my home phone and let me know where I can find someone that I can go to that handles your phones so I don’t have to wait. that’s all I am asking. thank you Donna Johnstone
Free Government Cell Phones says
Just in case you didn’t know, we’re not Total Call Mobile. We understand your frustration though.

I went to one of the Total Mobile vendors here in Reno, I got the phone on a Friday evening the lady told me it can take 2-24 hours to activate…a week went by and it still wasn’t activated. She asked me to leave the phone with her to see what was going on and to see her the following Friday. I went by there she said the phone was in her truck and had to find it. I went by again and they don’t seem to be in the same spot they usually are. What do I do? I called the phone and it seems to FINALLY be activated after 2 1/2 weeks but can’t seem to get a hold of them. HELP!
liliana says
can i use a phone i have at home
Free Government Cell Phones says
Some companies let you use an existing phone and others do not. It also depends upon if you own a phone that is compatible with the system the company uses. So you’ll have to give the companies in your area a call to find out.

We just checked with the government’s database and they are in business in Missouri and generating income there. Did they tell you there do not service the state?

My free cell phone was turned off because I lost it I have found it and need it turned back on the number is 509-701-****. Please help me I need this phone very much. Thank you The id on the back of the box ISLLP-KYOE4255RBK-BXPKG AND ESN268435459909******
Free Government Cell Phones says
First things first, Linda. We cannot turn your phone back on because we are not your service provider. This is an independent informational website that is NOT affiliated with any of the Lifeline companies.
Second, was your service terminated because you had not used the phone for 30 days (that’s what it sounds like). Speak to customer service to confirm that. Also ask if you are eligible for re-enrollment or if you are eligible to enroll with a different Lifeline company.
