enTouch Wireless Free Cell Phones

<< All Free Cell Phone Providers

Free in California, Unlimited talk, unlimited texts and unlimited data.
Free in 33 other states. Unlimited talk, unlimited texts and 10GB data.

NOTICE: Thanks to the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), you can now get Unlimited Data AND a free government cell phone at the same time. For more info, click here

enTouch Wireless is one of the leading free government cell phone companies and has become a household name in the Lifeline Assistance business. The company is now making free government cell phones available in 34 states. To be specific, you can get enTouch/Boomerang phones in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Like most companies that serve California, the enTouch Wireless’ free government cell phone program gives gives one terrific deal for California, and another more moderate deal for the rest of the states it serves. Unless you live on Tribal land, and then you’ve hit the jackpot. Below is a summary of the plans:

Free Lifeline Plans

California – Unlimited talk, unlimited text, plus 3GB data, plus free smartphone
California (Tribal) – Unlimited talk, unlimited text, 5GB data, plus free smartphone
Kentucky – Unlimited talk, unlimited text, 1GB data
All other states – Unlimited texts, 1000 minutes, plus 100MB data
All other states (Tribal) – Unlimited talk, unlimited text, 1.5GB data, plus free smartphone

The company offers a number of Top-Up Plans. But in our opinion, they’re expensive (up to $50 per month). We’ve never had a reader tell us they were looking for a $50 per month. You can find them on the enTouch website, but there’s no reason to confuse the issue here. This website is called FreeGovernmentCellPhones.net, not $50PerMonthGovernmentCellPhones.net

enTouch Wireless shows its understanding of the free government cell phone business on its website when it says, “Stay in touch with your family, your community. enTouch Wireless, through the Lifeline Assistance Program, helps keep people safe, healthy, and connected to their community.”

The enTouch website has this interesting comment regarding international calling buried in the fine print: “INTERNATIONAL CALLING IS LIMITED to unlimited landline and cellular calling to Mexico, Canada, United Kingdom, India, China, Vietnam, and South Korea only.” It also outlines a number of other restrictions on its international calling capabilities.

enTouch Wireless shows its understanding of the free government cell phone business on its website when it says, “Stay in touch with your family, your community. enTouch Wireless, through the Lifeline Assistance Program, helps keep people safe, healthy, and connected to their community.”

We couldn’t have summed up this outstanding program any better ourselves.

First of all, keep in mind that the Lifeline free government cell phone program is completely different than the ACP program. You can participate in both at the same time.

With that in mind, you can apply both discounts to the Lifeline program and get unlimited data. You can also go to almost any internet service provider and apply the $30/month discount to a number of plans and end up with unlimited free internet.

    I have two questions:
    1. Does your free plan allow international calls?
    2. I now pay $10 every 90 days for phone service, because I use very little of my phone. My current phone is no longer supported by my current carrier due to the 3G shut down, so I need a new phone. Can I get a new phone and stay with my current carrier?
    Thank you very much.

Is it possible to find out where exactly the booths are (in my area, of course) that are offering enTouch Wireless phones/service? I’ve been Google searching but haven’t been able to find out how. (I know you are not affiliated with them as a provider, but thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask.) Thx…..

I’ve had EnTouch for 4 years, and many months on the last Friday night, my service goes out. They aren’t open weekends, so if I can get thru on Monday, it’s back on Tuesday. Holiday weekends means I can be without service for five days. (Ignore the “no minutes” message.)

I’m on my SIXTH day out, heading into a 3-day weekend, so it will be at least TEN DAYS with no service. EnTouch has done this pretty consistently for five years, but other plans have even WORSE ratings! They all seem to collect $$$ from the government without providing much.

I’m texting for my mom she has a cell from your company. Ok my mom’s phone isn’t working correctly and now the battery it’s charging. So I was looking for a number to call but I didn’t so I would like to know what I can do about that. I call last time and they said that she can get another cell with different number so I convinced my mom about that so yes we would like for her to have a new phone even if it’s with a new number.

First of all, it’s not “our” company. This website is not affiliated with enTouch nor any other Lifeline company. Second, your mom can keep her number. What you were told is incorrect. She can even switch to a different company and keep her current phone number simply by telling the agent that she wants to “port over her current phone number.”

The FCC and USAC do not require service providers to offer Bring Your Own Phone plans. That being said, however, most of them do. We know that enTouch has offered that sort of plan in the past and we are, quite honestly, surprised that they no longer do.

For example, here’s an item taken from the enTouch blog that talks about its BYOP plan back in mid-2020:

I am currently with Assurance Wireless. Since they are moving to the TMobile network they are retiring the 3G service. I have no problem with that. Last year I bought a refurbished iPhone 7 (through their website) to replace the cheap free smart phone they provided. I have been trying, without success, to find out if this iPhone will comply with the new 4G network, and what I need to do before 1 Jan 2022.

There is no option to ever speak to a live person. Just an endless series of “push this for…”

I keep getting a text telling me that I must act to keep my service and all it says is we will send a text telling you what to do. But never anything further. All I want to do is speak to a live person.

They are powered by BOOMERANG Wireless which means why they do you that way!

You have to throw the boomerang back to them each month for them to return service to you!

Here is what is shady and potential not to have them as your provider:

The enTouch Wireless FREE EBB plan with Unlimited Talk & Text + 100% FREE Unlimited Data includes an allocation of 20 GBs of data (including 10 GBs at 4G LTE speeds, 5 GBs at up to 1 Mbps, and remaining data at up to 512 kbps).

my phone also goes off every single month… i email entouch to no avail… i’m 71 on a fixed income… and i live alone 8 miles from the nearest town… lifeline is truly my lifeline… this has been going on for almost a year… entouch has now put my number on a “no answer” list… as soon as customer service auto tells me that my service is active it hangs up… there is literally no way to get in touch with these people… part of the problem that people have with changing providers is that they are afraid that the new service will be spotty in their area… regardless of what the service tells them… i’ve alerted the bbb and the state attorney general… and still nothing… my service is not working right now… i’ve sent them 4 emails over the last week… and still nothing… does the government not have a agency in place to regulate these people??… this is ridiculous… there seem to be thousands of people having this same problem… why is the government still paying these crappy companies… why are they not addressing these issues… there should be some action taking besides just telling us to change providers…

To file a FCC complaint, you have to choose “Billing” as the problem, to eventually get to the provider names list, then give a short summary, then another box opens to give details. But even the government makes it difficult for us! https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/

I’ve been without a phone for over 3 weeks now. Called customer service 4 times and given same lie service will be restored in 24 hours. 2 customer service reps hung up on me. And one demanded who told me they were having issues with verizon that’s why everyone’s phone is out. 2 out of the 4 told me it was this issue. I’ve had them for 2 years . Being without phone service every month for many days. They shut your phone off on Friday right when they close. Then you have to call in Monday because there closed all weekend and have them fix there 3g 4g issue. Then it works again. Also the last moth I’ve been getting spammed hard by numbers sending me a text with downloadable content. 8 today all in same timeframe. So they obviously sold my number to someone for money. These guys are bad news if I had someone else i would switch in a hot min. Good luck

En touch services are such a pity and really suck, first my new phone received and next few days, can not make and receive call, and call en touch and have to wait for a week for replacement phone. such a suck really. Today again my phone cannot make/receive call, announcement said no minutes available, call en touch no body knows and have to wait for their technician to fix this. They mention unlimited talk and text. do not understand why my phone is not working.
En touch just took the money and provided lousy service.

I am using Entouch wireless. It was doing fine until this morning. I woke up, tried to use my phone, and I am being told by their computer system that my minutes have expired. Huh? My service should have renewed only a few days ago, and I make a minimum of 200 minutes in phone calls per week. I talk a lot with my family and friends. Has anyone else ever had their minutes expire? How do you get them back? I am sick and have a lot of medical problems that dictate I MUST be able to call my doctor and I cannot have my minutes expiring before my month’s end, and it is LOOONG before my month’s end. If anyone has had any trouble like this, please let me know–because if I am not the only one that has had this issue, then It will determine my next choices with Entouch. Pending the responses I get here, I may leave Lifeline altogether and NEVER do lifeline again because NONE of the Lifeline companies really treat their customers with resepect. I have been through two other ones and they were no better. Any other lifeline companies in my area do offer enough service.

The same thing happened to me. I was not given any notice that my service was going to be cut off. I contacted USAC and they don’t know why En touch turned my service off. But according to USAC, all I can do is re-apply and I will lose my phone number. I am pretty sure this company is turning off anyone that they cant”upsell” a phone too They are making me wait for five days before I re-apply so their system can”empty all my information” If USAC has no control over how these companies treat consumers who can we turn too for help?

You can apply through any service provider in your state and use the address of the nursing home. You will need to let the customer service agent know that you live in a group home and need to fill out the paperwork to get a group home exemption to the one-per-household rule. But it’s completely legal to get a free government cell phone under your circumstances.

I spent 35 of the 42 minutes on hold. The “approved” phone mysteriously wasn’t compatible at minute 35…but they could sell me one. (Luckily, I have another phone they “approved…so we’ll see.) STILL cannot get on-line to see anything. Doesn’t recognize the email the they have sent me 2 approval and services messages to. So frustrated. Hiawatha Iowa use to be call center nirvana for the US…but THIS team has to be the cast-offs of every failed marketing/call center if my experiences is any indicator. Still approved, no service. Been over a week of struggles. Frustrated and wasting time I could use for job hunt….

I was on Safelink for four or five years but they, in spit of what they say repeatedly on the phone, will not send re-renewal documents by US Postal Service (only advertising for paid service). I’m qualified and have given them asked for information at least 20 times. I’m guessing they decided they only want to deal with those on food stamps now & won’t let anyone stay on that qualifies with low income even though their website may say different. I see other companies are not allowing it as well, but at least they are stating clear qualifications. You need to review each companies qualifications made a lot easier by using this website service. I guess all the providers in a state don’t have to use the same qualifications.

I have been trying to change my lifeline provider from Qlink over to Entouch because my old Verizon Galaxy S6 is compatible with their service. For over 2 weeks, I have been unable to do so. Everytime I try to do it from Entouch’s website, I get an error message. When I call and try to enroll over the phone, they get an error message telling them that I’m unable to qualify because I already have lifeline service. I explain to them, Yes!! I know I have lifeline service, I’m trying to switch from my existing provider to entouch, well, they directed me to call Ohio’s Public Utility Commision which I did and they did some research for me. They got back to me and told me to call Entouch and immediately request to speak with Tier 2 support. I have tried this 4 times now and each time, they place me on hold and come back later and tell me, they are too understaffed and are unable to assist me.

Just in case anyone else is reading this. Information explained better by representative of entouch. USAC did an entouch wireless audit and found MANY lifeline subscribers to be “ineligible” even though entouch realizes this is incorrect, they must follow the USAC rules. On december 14th or soon thereafter many entouch lifeline subscribers will be disconnected. You will need to reapply after 7 days and you will lose your phone number. There are several complaints about this issue on the Better Business Bureau’s website. Also, after they discontinue service you phone number is virtually GONE and can’t even be ported to another company. Mine was shut off today December 19, 2018. I have to wait until December 27th to reapply, get approved and then get a new phone number. I’ve had the same number since 2012.

I had a very similar experience regarding the annual recertification process, but with Safelink wireless, or really Safelink Liars😩 I recert about 6-7 weeks before my end date, which was ample time. The CS Rep had to record a 3 min question/answer session verifying my continued eligibility and participation in a gov program(s). He then put me on hold for 3 min to listen back to & check sound quality. Everything checked out & he asked that I call back in about 10 days to make sure that my recert “went through” which I thought was a bit odd. In the meantime I had started receiving texts stating that I need to recert ASAP. I ignored them until calling back about 11 days later. He stated that it was “pending” and to call back but not until one week into the next month. I did this and, of course, still pending. CSR stated that recert had to be put into their system by a manager, done manually. whatever that means. He did, however, manually send me my mins/data etc. He said that I should be all set & that the next month my benefits should be applied automatically. Of course this didn’t happen, because my service was shutoff also around Dec 20 or so. This CSR said that my recertification didn’t go through, or, that it wasn’t accepted; she wasn’t sure. She said that I had to cancel this account and reapply 48 hrs later to get a new enrollment number. Well, that was about a month ago and I’ve tried applying online (message pops up that I already have an app in, which I don’t, no new enrollment number), tried applying on the phone, the rep had trouble doing this, and then finally advised that I apply by mail. Safelink wireless is, by far, the Most Incompetent bunch of individuals that I ever wish to encounter. It seems that lying to their customers is actually put in their training manuals. They appear to just make up any excuse or tell you what you want to hear, just to get you off of the phone. One last gripe: If you’re going to open a call center catering to mostly customers who speak English, you may want to hire employees who can speak it well, as it is the ONLY line of communication for us customers. I don’t mean this in a derogatory, racist, or with any ill intentions, but, there have been times when I couldn’t make out entire sentences being spoken, asking 2-3 times for them to repeat that please, finally giving up. It’s tough enough to get answers from Safelink, but that just makes it even more difficult.

No, you really don’t need to find a tent. Street events have been the source of far too much fraud and abuse. You need to keep yourself safe by enrolling online or by phone.

I’m in Michigan. Got a text from Entouch wireless benefits will be cancelled and lose phone number, need to reapply. Called entouch and they stated that as of December 14, 2018 we will have to lose our phone number and reapply for lifeline?? I’m confused. Only way to keep phone number is to go with prepaid.

Because of the great plans and excellent customer service we offer, we do have our customers either BYOD a phone device or purchase a phone from us. The free government cell phone program has been available in Tennessee for many years now, Steve. If you live in a rural area (and it sounds like you do), you may have trouble finding a company that services your area. But if you live in any urban area, service should be available for you. Many of these Lifeline plans mention that they’ll provide 500 minutes of talk time per month. enTouch states 500 minutes, but is that with a basic phone or a smart phone.

Safelink shows 350 minutes, but will give 500 minutes on basic phones.

What’s more confusing is that from what I read on the FCC site, the minimum number of minutes effective December 2017 is 750 minutes.

So, freegovernmentcellphone .com, how many minutes are these companies suppose to be allowing their customers?

To determine if your unlocked 3G iphone4 will work, you will need to call our Customer Service number. We then will be able to validate if the device can be brought on to our service. If it doesn’t, we have many phones that will fit your needs.

I already have a twice a week commitment to our local reach out center for the low income and homeless but our team was abandoned by the master agent. Leaving my phone less and frustrated. HELP!!!! Well, I just tried to switch from Entouch’s dumbphone to an unlocked/wiped/reset Samsung Android smartphone that was given to me by a friend, but even though Entouch’s website says specifically that this phone (which was previously activated through AT&T but now NOT associated at all with any active account anywhere) ***IS*** able to be used with Entouch Lifeline, the rep I just got off the phone with has told me that because my smartphone had been previously activated through AT&T, it CAN’T be used with their Lifeline service because they’re using Verizon (???). It is really frustrating that their website (https://www.entouchwireless.com/pages/smartphones_unlocked) says one thing, but the reps say another. Honestly, I thought it all came down to which service’s sim card was inserted into an unlocked/reset smartphone — I was expecting a sim card from Entouch would work just fine with this phone. Is this really not the case???

    Hi Chad at En Touch!

I had made a comment about having been one of Budget Mobile’s customers in Idaho as well as their longer being a lifeline provider in my state. When I went to deal with trying to obtain another provider though, which ever site I would attempt to sign up on I would receive messages about still having service despite having none. This site also suggested that I leave a comment on the En Touch site as they serve Idaho. I was told by Universal Service Administrative Corporation that I need to request a Port Freeze Exception, which I had also tried to obtain with Q-Link when I was first thinking of them as a provider but the representative said they couldn’t do that, plus they’ve been quite hard to get in touch with, and deal with as a whole. After reading a few other comments on this site, I also learned that I am dealing with an NLAD error which needs to be dealt with by a supervisor. Could En-Touch help me with this? I would like to get it all dealt with as right now I’m using the free version of Text Now at my house, and yesterday the power went out. Since it’s Internet phone my boyfriend and I had no way of finding out when it would be back on, plus he also has heart issues and it’s a worry. There have also been times that text-now completely either dies out during a call, or the individual on the other end can not hear anyone. Thanks for any help En Touch may be able to give!

It probably depends on the make and model of your phone, Korin. We’d suggest that you Google that make and model and the words “User Manual.” Once you find the user manual, it should be relatively easy to look up the answer to your question.

Or if Chad from enTouch has any other ideas, let’s hear ‘me. Thanks, Chad.

I have had service with enTouch for almost 3 years now with minimal to no problems until now. My service is supposed to be unlimited talk and text with 520 MB of data because I am a California resident, but as of right now I have no service because I have ran out of minutes! This happened to me once before and I called in and they reset my plan, but today I was told I would have to purchase minutes or wait until they replenished on the 28th of this month. What a load of crap!! Since when do you run out of “UNLIMITED” minutes?! The word unlimited means not limited or restricted in terms of number, quantity, or extent, so how is it I’m out of minutes and without service on an unlimited plan. As if that wasn’t enough to deal with the customer service rep was rude and refused to let me speak with his supervisor or anyone else that may have been able to help me with the matter. Worst service I have ever had with them!

Hello. I recently knocked the cover off of my pantech phone and the sd card came out and was also lost. (Don’t carry your phone in an outside compartment of a suitcase when pulling the suitcase behind your bicycle!) I went to a store and accidentally requested a replacement Sim card which they gave me and got authorization for. When they activated it I automatically got a new phone number. My problem is I didn’t need the new sim card and didn’t want a new number either, I just needed an SD card but i misspoke. Is there any way I can get a new sd card and maybe go back to the original phone number? Thanks.

I am telling you now that entouch sucks! They cut the text messaging down to 100 instead of 500 with Budget. They dont give you any notice of that change or anything. I paid a full month out of pocket after my minutes ran out super fast & was looking to change to a different company & as soon as I signed up with one they cut my phone off with me still having time left on my phone & knowing it usually takes a few weeks before you get a phone from another company. I think that’s their way of getting back at me for trying to change over to another company.

Just from reading these comments that entouch is great at reading and responding to comments, questions, and problems it doesn’t seem the customers quite agree. It sounds like a lot of entouch customers are having problems and not getting any help. It seems that bc it is a government program, you all can sit behind your little computer and just treat “poor” ppl however you want. If they could afford quality service I’m pretty sure they would have it. Ppl on these programs need the assistance not the hassle that comes with this company. I’m sorry but just from the customer comments this is not a dependable nor reliable provider. And thats sad. Ppl just need a little help sometimes

I have Entouch for a year now. I’ve had lots of health issues, cancer & cancer treatments, 4 surgeries, antibiotic resistant infections, near death twice, & have up coming surgery again. While in hospital stays my mailbox was broken into twice so didn’t receive any mail. A month ago, my cell was not working, I called they fixed it & I then asked if I could get a bigger cell as the small was very difficult to see. I was sent a new bigger used cell & that is ok. About a week ago it stopped working. I can’t call from the new ZTE they sent me as its not connected any more & when I try to call from a different phone, I cannot talk to a human but a recording tells me to press a key for the options I need & the recording loops over & over as its not receiving my key options. It would be nice if their record gave the option of being put through to a human when several seconds have gone by with out receiving a key prompt. I have been trying for 2 weeks now, day or night, to get though to no avail. I spoke with CA Lifeline & they said it was disconnected & only Entouch can reconnect if they so chose, to do so. I am hoping as you have stated thst Entouch will read my post & fix their automated prompts for people like me who cannot seem to get automated system to read my keying in & instead put me through to a human rep. Very frustrating…ty.

I was a Budget Mobile customer and they switched to En Touch which I found out now uses Verizon network I have had nothing but trouble. and my phone stops working all day and i get a all circuits are busy please try back and no text either. I thought I was out of mins but the next day i got a phone call and text was working. I called and told them about it and since I was on the phone that was having trouble they tried to get me to buy an android that was compatible with the new verizon service and said my phone wasn’t compatible is why i’m having intermittent service. So i had a Sprint Samsung galaxy S5 that a friend gave me and I ask if I could BYOD, she checked it and said yes it would take two days for the old one to deactivate and for the new one to start working. That was Thursday and it is now Monday and no working phone and my old one has been deactivated and i cant cal 611 even and i don’t have another phone. I even read online to dial *2290 for it to activate once my other phone had deactivated and that says we are sorry your phone is not activated. So I need help please?

I have a LG-4 tablet that was given to me, and I have been using it only for online things. My sister will have to get it disconnected from her Verizon Wireless acct. and get it unlocked first. If it is compatible with your systems, I would like itchanged over to replace my present entouch cell that is not working.

As things are now, I can neither call out or answer incoming calls. I no longer have a landline, so I cannot even call 911 in case of an emergency.

I agree with you that even if a phone doesn’t have an active service provider that you are still able to dial 911. As long as you are in an area where your phone is able to receive service. Entouch does not have the ability to block 911 calls. As far as your service being cut off, please dial 611 from your lifeline phone to contact us so we are able to look into your account.

I was a budget mobile customer with no troubles. Ever. Then I get a text saying I’m being transfered. It spelled your name “entoouch”. Of course I thought it was a scam. A couple days ago I went to the link in the text where you promise I would have everything the same. Last night I dialed 911and I was told to call my service provider. It wouldn’t complete a 911 call. That is not only illegal but a HUGE problem that you can’t ignore. If a phone has ever been activated, even if it no longer has service you can call 911. But not with entouch? How do you get away with cutting off my california lifeline and block 911? If it happens again I’ll sue.

We are required to follow CPNI regulations, which means if your loved one did not authorize someone else on the account, we are required to have either a death certificate or power of attorney letter in order to close the account.

I am currently a Safelink customer with Tracfone. Recently, my health insurance company, I-Care, promoted a new offering – – – the enTouch Lifeline cellphone service. Since the enTouch plan provided (nominal) cellphone Internet access and my Tracfone plan did not, I decided to sign up.

That was about six weeks ago. My first application was kicked out because I already had Lifeline service, even though the offering provided for switching to an enTouch plan for Lifeline customers currently enrolled in another plan. When I called enTouch, after having heard nothing from them for over two weeks (despite their promise to respond within five business days), whomever I spoke to said that there was nothing that he could do and that I would have to contact I-Care. I did so and sent in my next application to my I-Care care coordinator (at her suggestion) so that she could enable the enrollment. That was over three weeks ago. (The care coordinator had told when I contacted her that since I had had my current Lifeline plan for over sixty days, switching plans was OK. [I have no idea why this is important.])

    I have still heard nothing.

I’m done. If enTouch can so completely boot a simple application, what would happen if I had an actually complicated problem after signing on with them.

    I’ll stay where I am.

The 60 day information is important because the rules of the program state that you must have service with one company 60 days before you can switch to another company. Everything your I-Care rep told you is correct.

enTouch is one of our favorite Lifeline companies and it should have completed all the paperwork necessary to cut off your old service at the same time that it started your new service.

In other words, it sounds as if you did everything correctly and your service switch should have been simple. Every company makes mistakes now and then, so give it another try. Call enTouch customer service again and ask to speak to a supervisor. Maybe someone higher up the chain of command can solve your problem.

Oh enTouch has customer service? Could have fooled me! After another company gave my account to enTouch (I didnt have a say in it) & not one i would apply to as the benefit was a 400 minute txt. Anyway My service was cut last week with no explanation & when I’v tried contacting from cell & home phone, recording says my # is not in their system. Push #2 for customer service ok then it wants your cell #, which is not in the system…”GOODBYE” & hangs up. Great service! I cant get to customer SERVICE! So I email couple days ago. Guess what..nothing I NEED CELL PHONE SERVICE. I’d be happy with customer service at this point to tell me why my service was shut off. URRR! Reason I complain here is maybe save someone else the frustration, letting EnTouch know they need improvement. Cant help wonder if paying (non-poor) customers get customer service &/or shut off w/no notice of when & why.

Kelly – I am sorry you did not review the notifications that were sent via text message and USPS in regards to your transfer to enTouch Wireless. At the time of transfer, your service offering did not change.

I see on 11/29/16 we received notification from the state of Washington that your account was to be closed. This was either due to a benefit transfer (you requested to go to another carrier) or an eligibility denial (the beneftit you enrolled with was no longer valid according to the WA state database). Important to note, enTouch Wireless did not choose to close your account, rather we were required to.

I would encourage you to work with your state PUC to determine the issue.

oh, I looked down the list of questions and see that there are others that are involved with the mess involving BudgetMobile and EnTouch. I posted a comment that’s still awaiting moderation but I want to add this info to my post.

I was originally with BYO Wireless with a month to month account which was then transferred to Budget Mobile. It had remained a month to month plan although I was eligible all along for Lifeline Service but my phone didn’t qualify at the beginning (iPhone 4S). I, too, received a text from Budget that all Lifeline accounts would be transferred to EnTouch but since mine was not a Lifeline, I figured it wasn’t included. When I went to pay for my next month, I found my account was gone from Budget. I called them which was a mess in itself because they had no record of me having such an account but noted that, if I did, it was transferred even though it wasn’t a Lifeline account. I then called EnTouch and what ensued was frustrating to say the least…..no one knew what was going on but I did find out that Lifeline now could use my old iPhone and that my number would be ported free of charge to my EnTouch account. I checked the EnTouch website and my phone was accepted as transferable so I completed the application. I then realized that the application didn’t mention the BYOP option (bring your own phone) so I emailed to ask about that. The email response told me to keep the phone as a spare. I then wrote another email when I received the phone as it had a new phone number attached. The customer service reply detailed what I would need IF I HAD NOT BEEN a Budget customer previously (which I had been) and the email also assured me that EnTouch had all my information to make the transition if I had been a previous Budget customer.

Well, this evening I called to make the transition and spoke to Caesar who insisted that there was nothing he could do because I was no longer a Budget customer and didn’t have a login name or PIN number. I know my login information with Budget and my password but he said NO, that he couldn’t help me despite the fact that the email said otherwise. I then asked him to transfer me to a supervisor.

I then spoke to Mario who was rather “prickly” and he kept interrupting me. I read all the emails that I had exchanged with EnTouch and he kept insisting that they were with Budget and said my account was closed with them and they couldn’t do anything to port my number over. I got a little testy with his attitude but never swore at him as he claimed……and he hung up on me. I have spent my entire career in customer service (50+ years) and if he thinks I was being abusive or whatever, he needs to find another career. I have responded to the last email I received from EnTouch customer service asking what my options are now to this mess. My month to month account with EnTouch is getting ready to expire and the thought of buying time while they fiddle around just pisses me off. The right hand doesn’t seem to know or understand what the left hand is doing……and I am ready to file a complaint with the agency that handles them plus additional organizations.

    This is ridiculous!!

Call center staffing has been adjusted, and calls are answered in a very reasonable amount of time. enTouch Wireless does not have on-line account access at this time, but it is something we are working on.

Customers can place an air time free call to support by dialing 611 from their handset, and will be given their current balance and reload date via IVR, plus the option to add airtime over the phone. Of course you can also connect to customer support for a live response.

If you still need assistance, please email us at support@entouchwireless.com so we can find a resolution. I apologize we did not see this complaint sooner.

This company is TERRIBLE!!! I’m hoping to resolve the huge mess they have created by giving me what may be false information by email or the tech people who’re supposed to be porting over my number are rude and incorrect. I like to have my ducks in order so I wrote numerous emails before, during and after my Lifelife phone was approved but when I called them. as directed by their email, they pretty much told me to GFM and hung up on me.

The thing is why cut my services off before you send the letter then when I call up there the people tell me they don’t know why it got cut off they only tell you in the letter. Great now I have to wait seven days to reapplie for the mess. I have work to do and I won’t be able to reach people like that just not right. I think the government or this company should really pay more attention to there customers and send the letter at lest two weeks before you cancel it not after

My experience with enTouch so far is HORRIBLE! They took over Budget customers (and I thought Budget was bad – screwing up renewing my minutes every month and had to call), but enTouch appears much worse. They have had my account for 3 weeks yet I cannot check my account online, cannot top up, no one answers their phone, and when I dial 611 I still get Budget who say they no longer handle my account. I’ve emailed their support multiple times with no response. Pretty soon I will run out of minutes before my month renews (which hopefully that works) so I’ve been trying to conserve using Skype instead as this is my only phone and I need it to work for critical things like doctors appointments (that’s why its called LIFELINE). I consider this fraud when government tax dollars are paying for this service and the customers are receiving no service at all. Finally after many attempts, I just sent a formal complaint to the Lifeline management organization, to my state’s utility commission, the FCC, and others as I was instructed to do. I hope it gets resolved now and would have switched except I did that once before and they immediately cancel the phone while you wait weeks for the other to arrive. In the meantime you have no phone so the system doesn’t work. Anyways, I would not wish this nightmare on anyone and would never recommend to anyone Entouch mobile unless the company makes some major changes soon.

Another reader said he didn’t get any results from his service provider until he reported the company to the Better Business Bureau. Then he got immediate action. You might give that a try, too, Jayne.

One question for you: Several readers have said that their Budget service has been taken over by enTouch and we doubted them because there has beeen absolutely ZERO news about this. The only news we’ve been able to find is that enTouch is taking over customers in Maryland. So our question is, what state are you in?

I was a budget customer that was bumped to enTouch at the end of sept 2016. I was frustrated too at my inability to top up minutes online cause I ran out the day they switched over. I found I could only top up by calling 611 during business hrs. The first 2 times I called I waited awhile as they ‘were experiencing heavy call volume.’ So I finally tried them b4 they shut down and spoke with a rep who said they were working on getting online top up options and other features for budget people but basically they were overwhelmed. They also offer several special options for budget for upgrading to smartphones. I still have same piece of’ *bleep* archaic budget phone for past 3 years that is held 2gether with ducttape and have never been offered options. I think enTouch is trying to adapt to a load of new customers but hopefully they will work out kinks. I may be proven wrong on that but I’m giving them a chance. And frankly, budget is not a hard act to follow

MJayne – I apologize for the rough transition. The volume was much greater than expected, which made life difficult for our new customers as well as us. Unfortunately we do not offer an on-line account at this time, but we are working on that. 611 is an airtime free call that will give you your balance and the option to add time.

Maybe. Sorry that doesn’t sound like a very definitive answer, but here’s why maybe is the correct answer. Not all phone makes and models are compatible with all cell networks. The only way to get an absolutely correct answer is to contact enTouch’s customer service or tech support team and give them the make and model of your phone. They can tell you if it’s compatible.

There is a bit more to it, Sunny. Not all phones are compatible with all national cell networks. So before you buy an unlocked phone, check with your service provider to make sure that it will work with their system.

In addition, there’s one other problem you may face. Some Lifeline service providers do not allow you to use an unlocked phone for some period of time. For example, you may need to have the phone for one year before some companies allow it to be unlocked.

So make sure you check both of those things prior to purchasing any cell phone you intend to use as part of your free government cell phone plan.

That depends on a lot of factors, Ms. If the phone has been inactive for 60 days, your account would have been cancelled. We assume that’s the case, but the only way to know for sure is to contact EnTouch to ask.

If it was cancelled, you can sign up again with any of the Lifeline service providers in your state. Here’s where you can find a list of those companies:

But as we always say, do not apply for a free government cell phone at one of these booths or tents. There has been too much fraud committed at the tents, so we always recommend applying online or by phone. Much safer that way.

I’ve dealt with a lot of trainwreck CA Lifeline service providers and mobile phones! Hopefully enTouch Wireless allows me to get either a replacement phone or battery! The generic battery that comes with the phone has a lower output than the actual Motorola battery!

TO MANY ISSUES TO LIST WITH PHONE AND SERVICE!!! Took 7 requests to cancel service and finally let my 1 year renewal request from them to go unanswered for them to cancel it FINALLY!!! Assurance didn’t offer any other phones at the time and QLink well there might be Ladies reading this so I CAN’T SAY EXACTLY WHAT I THINK OF THEM!!! So question is with my Bad eyes and Big Thumbs which Life Line Phone Co. do you think would offer me a LARGE SCREEN Android Smart Phone without charging extra or a arm and a leg?? And yes I live in Missouri !!! Later……. “☮ & ❤= 🙂 ” PEACE B| (Y)

Very rude customer service. a phone can’t call a landline . Just spoke to Henry, very rude individual. Refuse to transfer to supervisor and just hung up the phone to end the call.

I had the very worst experience with Budget Lifeline cell phone service. Renewed for second year by mail, then online and then by phone to their customer service. They were extremely rude on the phone. One of their representatives actually hung up on me. I have been without a working cell phone now for almost a month now and have to reapply to another company because I told them I had to cancel their service because it was not working even with their “help”. Bad experience with Budget. Go with any other company and you’ll be happier!

WAS I LIED TOO?? I would have stayed with Assurance Wireless Except Their Phones are JUNK like I’ve Never seen before and, No Data. You will need to purchase your own “PAYLO” Branded phone for Assurance. Great Company I have nothing but praise for them!

I need to get something from that booth in the parking lot or? Your phone comes with a Charger in a sandwich baggie. No manual or written information. Nice Phone!

I went to check Budgetmobile and they are offering a free smartphone, unlimited calls, unlimited texts, and 250 mb of data. What other companies can I check out to know if they offer the same or more? I want to look into them to make a decision and use my best option.

I checked my texts last night and there is no 250 texts that i sent and received if you had a good computer system i could check on the minutes that i used also the internet does not work on these so called phones or plan i think your company is bogus and not very helpful at all certainly you have the rudest customer service reps that I have ever dealt with thank you Gretchen Nickence

Purchased a $10 Airfare card at a Circle K to add minutes to friend’s entouch phone. Recording said successful but could not make or receive calls. entouch customer service said had to be minimum $20 – that I’d only added “data” and couldn’t add another $10 to make it up -Would have to buy a $20 or more somewhere. and the $10 would essentially be lost since he has a FLIP PHONE. Bought a $20 AirFair card at 7-11 tonight. Recording said successfully added. “Minutes” recording says 500 minutes – but can’t make or receive calls. Other recording says minutes expired – which his prior month’s were expired. $30 in and he can’t make or receive calls. Their customer service closed at 8 Central. What a hassle. I hope this can be resolved but if not, their motto ought be “When “free” is not worth it”..

I recently applied for and was given a phone. The phone was stolen from me. It was invaluable in applying for my unemployment now I have no way of completing my phone interviews (phone tag). My question is; can I get a new phone and keep the same number. I need a new phone I am in california. My phone number is 626-559-****. I can generate all of the documentation that was provided when I applied for and received the first phone.

I am trying to get my grandmother’s phone back in service and when I do the application the year of birth only goes back to 1935 and she was born in 1928. She already has a phone so does not need a phone we had to mail her phone in at the end of January of this year so they sent her a new phone we where able to make 1 call before the phone service was shut off for non use. She uses her cell phone mainly for emergency if her home phone is not working. How do I go about the application with it not allowing me to put in the correct year of her birth?

Ire have an LG ENLIGHTEN VS700 cell phone that was given out free through the Lifeline set up here in the town of Rosamond, CA. On Rosamond Blvd & 25th St. Anyway my question is first what model # is the SBC cord or what ever those letters are when you plug them in from the Computar to Your Cell Phone. And also second of all what do you mean in enTouch wireless lil’ booklet if you will where it states. Anniversery Date. What is that refering to is what I’m simply asking of you

I had a lifeline provider for years & all was fine until I moved to a area (85132) they didn’t have service. I canceled and applied to a provider that allowed upgrade phones but they & others kept telling me I already had service. Today I got a phone from en touch (been so long I forgot I applied).. OMGosh, it was a beat/scratched up Samsung U460V ugly blue phone with a very scratched up screen. I haven’t called them yet, cause I am at wits end what to do, since I have been w/o a phone for months and this one does have a camera. I can always buy a cover but have no idea what to do about the scratched up screen. Any suggestions.

Okay, this is the last time I’m going to tell anyone that I have had reach out wireless for about 6 years without a hitch. It’s also the cheapest I have found when it comes to adding minutes. $15 for 500 more (750) total minutes that rollover and unlimited texting. I don’t know why people don’t listen to me. I’ve also upgraded my phone several times and have never had a problem with them.

I was told there was a certain amount of minutes on the phone, that seems way higher than what I’m finding online. However the gentlemen handling the phone service stated that California received extra funding therefore the minutes are 1100 per month. Is this correct? Also is there a way that I can access how many minutes are remaining on my phone for the month? Thank you!

I got a phone last week and was told I could add time by purchasing a card from 711, walgreens, or cvs and also by going to the website or calling customer service with a debit/credit card. There is no cvs in my area and the 711 only carries the data only card and Walgreens doesn’t carry the cards in the correct amounts for enTouch service plans unless you are planning to add $20 or more. I called customer service with a card and it’s only 6:30pm and they are closed. I went to the website and there is no way to pay for service on the website it just shows pictures of the cards you can purchase and gives the phone number for the customer service that is closed! I am very frustrated at this point and without any time on my only phone! I have never had so much trouble adding money to anything in my life! Has anyone else had this problem or know what I can do to get this handled right away? I am wishing I had stuck with my other phone service and may go back to it if I have one more problem as this is the second time this week I have had a huge problem with this phone service and I have only had the phone six days 🙁
