NewPhone Wireless Free Lifeline Cell Phones

<< All Free Cell Phone Providers

Get a free smartphone, unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and up to 15GB of data per month

NOTICE: Thanks to the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), you can now get Unlimited Data AND a free government cell phone at the same time. For more info, click here

NewPhone Wireless is a small, but strong player mainly in the northeast and southern United States. If you live in Arkansas, Maine, Maryland, Rhode Island or West Virginia, and if you qualify for the Lifeline and ACP programs, you can choose NewPhone Wireless to provide your cell phone and service to you — at no cost. NewPhone offers three different plans: Lifeline, Lifeline pus ACP combo, and ACP-only.

NewPhone is also part of a larger conglomerate (HTC Communications) that also owns AirVoice Wireless, AirTalk Wireless, and NewPhone Wireless.

Here are the NewPhone plans:

Lifeline Plan

    SIM card only
    1,000 Minutes
    Unlimited Text
    4.5GB data

Lifeline + ACP Combo

Free iPhone 7, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S8, and more
    Unlimited Talk
    Unlimited Text
    16.5GB High Speed Data

ACP Plan

Smartphone or flip phone (depending on availability)
    Unlimited Talk
    Unlimited Text
    8GB

ACP Device Discount

The good news isn’t done yet. When you enroll in an ACP plan, you get a one-time discount of up to $100 on a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. Depending on which one you choose, you will get your device for a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50. That’s what we call a bargain.

How do you qualify for a NewPhone Lifeline plan?

Qualifying for a NewPhone Wireless phone is exactly the same as with the other companies. In general, any of the following qualifies you:

  • Income at or below 135% of federal poverty level* (proof required)
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Plan (LIHEAP)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Board of Education Free Lunch Program
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Section 8 Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

Qualifying for the ACP discounts is even easier. The program participation with which you an qualify are almost identical, but the income eligibility is much more lenient. You can qualify as long as you make less than 200% of the Federal poverty guideline numbers.

Be Sure to Compare NewPhone with Other Options in Your State

NewPhone Wireless is just one of the many Lifeline companies in your state. There may be a dozen or more providers to choose from in a state. While NewPhone provides decent plans, plans and phone choices do vary substantially among providers. To begin your comparison shopping, please see our phone providers by state page and click on your state.

We’re not your service provider and didn’t send you anything, Patricia. This is an independent informational website. You need to contact your service provider. Although if it “never” worked and no phone calls have been received or made in the any 30 days period during that year, your account has probably been cancelled. You will need to re-enroll.
