Are You Eligible?

Eligibility requirements for an Assurance phone and minutes often vary slightly from state to state, but you probably qualify for a phone from the company if you participate in any of the following government aid programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps or SNAP)
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
  • Veterans Pension and Survivor's Benefit.
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance (BIA)
  • Tribally Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
  • Tribal Head Start (only those households meeting its income qualifying standard)
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)

If you are not on a government assistance program that is Lifeline-approved for your state, you can still qualify if your household income meets certain government guidelines in your area — namely, if it is at our below 135-150% (may vary upon state) of the federal poverty level. Submit your Assurance Wireless application online or via mail, or call the Assurance Wireless phone number to see if you qualify.

Be Sure to Compare Easy Wireless with Other Options in Your State

This is just one of the many Lifeline Cell Phone providers in your state. Some states have over a dozen cell phone providers to choose from. Plans and phone choices often vary substantially between providers and you owe it to yourself to look at them all. To begin your comparison shopping, please see our phone providers by state page and click on your state.

  7. Marilyn Tate says

    May 3, 2019 at 3:32 pm

My name is Marilyn Tate. I had a government plan and they took me off. I have paid two months since. The first month it was paid on the 22nd of March. It was turned off on the 3rd of April. Took two days to get it back on. It was paid on the 26th of April and was turned off today May the 3rd. I am on hospice and must have a phone. My daughter just called the Ponca City, OK. business and they said it has been reported stolen. Nothing can be done until Monday. I would hate to have to file a lawsuit should I need a phone and don’t have one. I have had this phone and number for years. 580-491-**** The lady said it had a hot something on my phone. Just do not understand. I am over 80 years old. PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you! Marlyn Tate

But we wish you the best of luck.

Hello I’m interested in knowing something please. I’m already qualified and receive complete service from Easy Wireless in Lawton Oklahoma on Sheridan and I’ve bought an LG that doesn’t require batteries to be changed, or you cannot take the back off at all. But I’ve been using it for almost 1 year with half the screen missing & the camera stopped working right after I got it. Do I need to save up for a replacement or can Easy Wireless replace it for me with the same phone make & number? Then bill me monthly until I get it paid for? I’m not sure how much longer this phone will work & I’ve tried to go by Easy Wireless to ask but I’m not able to get a hold of them. Please let me know at *********@gmail.com
2843245 is the number or call Mark at 647264****

    • Free Government Cell Phones says

      January 26, 2017 at 11:42 am

We would guess that the form you received was from a free government cell phone service provider, Chelsey, not from the government itself. Nevertheless, although most companies say it will take two weeks to receive your phone, our readers’ real world experience says that it often takes three or four weeks or even more. Good luck.

How do I retrieve my voice mail from another phone?

    • Free Government Cell Phones says

      December 3, 2016 at 5:18 pm

Impossible for us to answer that question because it depends on the make and model of your phone and your service provider. Contact customer service or tech support to get the answer to your question. Or you can also google the make and model of your phone along with the words “user manual.” The user manual will undoubtedly answer your question.

I am currently with Q Link Wireless. They have sent me 3 Smart Phones since April 16. All 3 Smart Phones did NOT work. It is next to IMPOSSIBLE to get a human on the phone. I have SPOKE to them once in April 16, Aug 16 and Nov 16. The last Smart Phone they sent 2 weeks ago… I can not call anyone. I get “You are roaming. Please enter your VISA” and I HANG UP! I can’t afford to PAY for calls with a FREE SmartPhone! I NEED HELP by a company that gives WORKING free SmartPhones. PLEASE CONTACT me at: LoveOurAussies@cox.net or 918-512-8485 I’ve been hunting online ALL DAY LONG. Something is always wrong. I am on DISABILITY due to a stroke 20 years ago. I have 2 types of siezures and MUST have a phone to contact my husband when I sieze and get seriously injured and this has happened TOO MANY TIMES.

What you say: All technical questions should be asked of your vendor. Q Link Wireless RARELY EVER answers their phones!!! I need to be able to SPEAK to someone but this is next to impossible with Q Link Wireless.

I will GLADLY cancel this Smart Phone from Q Link Wireless. It’s doing me NO GOOD NOW!!!

I HOPE & PRAY that YOU will contact me. Thank you, Michele Carter

    • Free Government Cell Phones says

      July 6, 2016 at 1:28 pm

The people who operate the tents and booths are generally independent contractors, Barbara. That means that even the Lifeline companies don’t know where or when they’ll show up.

We highly recommend applying by phone or online. Less risk of identify or other fraud that way.

Every time I have had a issue with my phone they always have a solution. The only place that gives me options to upgrade and buy upgraded phones. Change my plan at anytime. The customer service and the agents I have dealt with are super sweet and very professional and know what they are doing. I live in Shawnee and thats my go to store. I just got back my phone last month and paid $20+tax so i çould have 1G of data and unlimited talk n text + $20 start-up fee. The reception desk to use my datà or to even call someone is horrible and takes forever to actually call the # dialed and then it tells me the phone call log is not responding then closes out. I went to the company to see if u they could transfer my # to another gov phone that i had and told them why and the ppl working there just told me i just happened to get a crappy starter android phone and id have to upgrade by paying $27 for another phone cuz they couldnt transfer my # to a phone i brought in. I paid for a service that i can hardly use at all and i feel like i was lied to as if they just want my money and are scamming ppl. I want to switch to Terra com and i still owe this months bill for crappy service and this so called phone. Should i have to pay them and how can i switch services?

The air conditioning is nice when it works, and the chairs aren’t too comfortable, but I won’t curse or disrespect anyone in my store. If you’re in the Northeast Oklahoma area, feel free to try the Claremore office.

last weekend (16th-18th), I tried calling my sister, who has Easy Wireless, and was unable to contact her. She tells me she took her phone to the office and was told that someone had hacked her phone and wanted her to pay $15 to clear it up. She told worker at the phone office to keep the phone; she wasn’t going to pay that when it was not her fault the phone was hacked. She really needs a phone, because she is disabled and needs to make medical appointments.

is it easy to transfer from one government phone co to another? I am on assurance and I am really not happy with the way they run their company. I would like to change to a co that is more reliable and willing to answer the customers questions..i think easy wireless sounds like the company that is right for me.

Click Here for an article on switching companies. As for how easy it is to do so, it depends upon the company you choose and your luck in the customer service representative you get. We should warn you that none of the companies seem to have reputations for great customer service, if that’s your issue.

Just tell me how to get a Phone!

Confused? Getting a phone is actually very simple. Click here to begin, read every word, and then simply follow the instructions.
