NOTE: Amerimex is now SafetyNet Wireless and Amerimex.com brings you to safetynetwireless.com.
If you speak Spanish and you need a free government cell phone in California, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania or Wisconsin, AmeriMex Wireless may be the company for you. The company has a unique business approach that really is unlike any of its Lifeline Assistance competitors.
AmeriMex, a division of AmeriMex Communications, specializes in getting cell phones for financially-challenged Americans who have no internet access and those who aren’t computer literate. It specializes in the Hispanic market.
If you’re able to fill out the application form by yourself, AmeriMex lets you do so. But unlike other Lifeline companies that require their customers to fill out the application forms on their own, AmeriMex also works with merchants who can log onto the AmeriMex website and fill out all the forms for the customers. In other words, the merchant will go over each question with you and enter your answers on the form.
In fact, according to the AmeriMex website, the company’s Mission Statement is, “To provide quality service to the Hispanic market, being sensitive to its cultural characteristics and needs, and to treat each customer as a valued individual.”
AmeriMex got into the free government cell phone business after starting out in the long distance calling cards business. The company later began providing residential telephone service and soon had more than 20,000 customers in 10 states. The company has always focused on the Hispanic market and built its business through a network of 800 Hispanic merchants.
One of the things we really like about AmeriMex, and, in fact, share with the company are some very specific core values. As they say on their website, “Each individual within AmeriMex strives to embrace these values and pass them on to our agents and customers.”
Those core values include:
- Value the Individual Customer
- Deep Respect for Everyone
- Positive Mental Attitude
- Demonstrate Ownership
- Promote the Hispanic Community
AmeriMex Wireless requires no long-term contracts and 250 minutes are automatically added to your account every month. If you need more minutes, AmeriMex makes it easy for you to buy additional time.
Please be aware that AmeriMax does charge a onetime $25.00 activation fee for each new customer. And they do charge a $25 application fee.

Speak to your service provider’s customer service team IMMEDIATELY. You may be able to get it back, but the odds are not good.

I ordered a tablet 12/2/22. I paid with my credit card. I need to know how to find out the status.

Contact your service providers customer service team. Depending on the provider, you may also be able to get that info off its website.

Hello:
I am writing from a Behavioral Health Provider in PA and was wondering if you are now offering unlimited talk and text due to COVID 19? We are providing telehealth services and many consumers do not have enough talk and text minutes to cover their appointments.
Free Government Cell Phones says
Cathy, you left the same comment on five different service providers’ pages. But we are not a service provider. You need to contact the service provider’s customer service team. Some of the service providers have temporarily increased the number of minutes, but it is for a very short period of time.

If you’ve been a customer with your current service provider for 60 days or more you are eligible to switch to a different service provider. Here’s an article that tells you exactly how to make the switch:

Amerimex is disreputable.
Their hotline 1 (888) 900-8593.
I called and asked for a change of address. They told me I had to send an email with the request, providing me with the exact wording to use. I asked why I needed to send an email when I had them on the line. The rep had no answer other than ‘thats how they do it’
The reply email was responded to with a message saying they didnt understand my request.
I called back, waited for over 15 minutes, provided my identifying info including social security number and was hung up on.
I called back, waited another 15 min. the representative wanted to report the previous caller hanging up, wanted to have me sign up for a password; when I refused he agreed to update my mailing address, mentioning nothing about an email!
Horrible, dehumanizing service.
2 thumbs down!

I am wondering if Amerimex is still in business. I just got with Safetynet about 3 weeks ago. I’ve been trying to get my prior number ported. Well, They need approval from Amerimex to port & there has been no response from them & I’m about to lose my prior number. Is there any other to get in touch with Amerimex? Or am I going to have to go to a different company. Thank you
Free Government Cell Phones says
Sorry to be the bearers of bad news, Elsa, but Amerimex went out of business long ago. You’ll notice that it is no longer listed on our “Service Providers” page:
