i have a phone from qlink and it will not keep a charge but they told i have to pay 25.00 for a new one. i was told free phones iam 77 years old and i need my phone i case something to call someone if any thing happens i do not have the money to pay for it iam on a fixed income . can you help me
Free Government Cell Phones says
Unfortunately, that’s the way the program works, June. The companies often give out poorly refurbished cell phones that don’t work or break quickly, then charge the customers $25 to get another one. Seems like a bad part of the program, but that’s how it currently works.

I subscribed to your Newsletter and Blog about a year ago, but the last time i got it was in September. I was wondering when I will start getting it again.
Free Government Cell Phones says
Thanks for asking this question, David. We always promise that we will not bombard subscribers to our newsletter with needless emails and your comment is proof that it’s true. We’ll be doing another newsletter so, but we usually send them out only when the news is significant and/or timely.

I was recently introduced by one of their own private Sellers and I try to set up an account however I do not have a phone and it states that someone has an Obama phone under my name. I need to report fraud immediately and I do not know why you guys are not open on the weekends. This is ridiculous this is not ok and you guys should have a 24-hour fraud line that’s available 24 hours.
Free Government Cell Phones says
We’re not the government agency in charge of free government cell phones and we’re not a free government cell phone service provider, Natasha. We’re just a helpful, informative website that specializes in the Lifeline Assistance program. So “we” shouldn’t do any of those things you demanded that we do.
However, being the helpful, informative people we are, here’s an article that tells you how to report fraud:

can we upgrade phones
Free Government Cell Phones says
Virtually every company permits customers to upgrade their phones. There may be a small fee to upgrade to a smartphone, but it’s well worth it. Here’s an article that tells you the upgrade policy of all the major Lifeline companies:
